Dishwasher Installation
Replacing a dishwasher looks simple until the old unit is out and you're lying on the kitchen floor with a leaking supply line. We handle the whole swap — removal, install, hookups, and a leak check — so the new machine is running before we leave.
We install customer-supplied dishwashers for homeowners and landlords across Greenwood, Whiteland, Franklin, and the south side of Indianapolis.
“Jarred has done a couple of projects for me now. He replaced my front door a while back and recently installed a new dishwasher. Both jobs turned out great, and he was reliable, professional, and made sure everything was working properly before he left. I’d definitely recommend Cotterman Home Services.”
What a Dishwasher Install Includes
Removing the existing dishwasher
Power and water off, connections broken down, and the old unit pulled out without scarring your cabinets or floor.
Setting and securing the new unit
Leveled in the opening and fastened to the counter or cabinet so it doesn't tip when the door opens.
Water, drain, and electrical connections
Reconnected to the existing accessible supply, drain, and power at the appliance.
Garbage disposal drain hookup
Proper high loop or air gap routing, including knocking out the disposal drain plug on a new disposal.
Leak check
Connections watched under pressure and through a cycle before we call it done.
Testing operation
A run-through to confirm the unit fills, drains, and shuts off the way it should.
Accessible shutoff valves and a properly prepared opening make this a clean job. If the space needs cabinet modification, new flooring transitions, a new electrical connection, or plumbing work beyond the existing hookups, that's additional work and we'll quote it before proceeding.

Common Questions
- Do you supply the dishwasher?
- Most customers buy the dishwasher they want and we install it. If you'd rather we pick one up, mention it when you request a quote.
- What do you need ready before installation day?
- An accessible water shutoff valve, a working outlet or hardwire connection, and a clear opening under the counter. If the old unit is still in place, we'll pull it out as part of the job.
- Can you connect the dishwasher drain to a garbage disposal?
- Yes. If the disposal is new, the drain plug has to be knocked out first — a step that's easy to miss and a common cause of a dishwasher that won't drain.
- What if the cabinet opening is too small or the connections are in bad shape?
- We'll show you what we're seeing before going further. Cabinet trimming, flooring height issues, corroded valves, or missing electrical connections are additional work and get quoted separately.
